The newest release in the Artisan Collection, English Sparkling 2018, marks the first expression of the House style beyond Robertson. The chalk-rich soils and cool maritime climate of Hampshire and West Sussex offered a compelling opportunity for a House dedicated to traditional-method sparkling wine. Working with carefully selected growers, parcels of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier were sourced to explore how that style could find expression in a new terroir.
The 2018 release also marks the final collaboration between former Cellarmaster Pieter "Bubbles" Ferreira and Cellarmaster Pierre de Klerk, before Pieter's retirement from the House in January 2026. It brings together decades of shared experience in a wine that reflects both its English origin and the exacting standards that define Graham Beck. One chapter closes for the House, and another opens.
Medium straw with flashes of brilliant green. On the nose, fresh white grapefruit, yellow pear and Golden Delicious apple are layered with toasted brioche, roasted almond and warm nutmeg. The palate is vibrant and linear, with ripe nectarine, lemon curd and pear balanced by crystalline acidity and chalky minerality, leading to a long, refined finish. This is English terroir shaped by a South African House, a true testament to our pursuit of the perfect bubble.
